LeBron James isn't the only NBA player who chose a media event to announce where he would end up as a free agent.
Anthony Tolliver, a far less notable NBA veteran, spoofed James' infamous "Decision" spectacle on ESPN with a YouTube video Friday to announce he was taking his services to the Timberwolves.
Though the Wolves had no official comment on the Tolliver deal, the 6-foot-9 forward was happy to provide confirmation in his video. Holding up a plain sheet of paper, apparently torn out of a notebook, Tolliver responds to an unseen female "reporter" who asked him to write the name of his new team.
"I will be taking my services to the north to play for the Minnesota Timberwolves," Tolliver said.
Tolliver's response was immediately followed by the sound of a howling wolf, mimicking the sound heard over the public address system during Wolves games at Target Center. While James used a one-hour special on ESPN to hype his decision to leave Cleveland for the Miami Heat, Tolliver's video is only 69 seconds.
The video opens with the sound of ESPN's signature "SportsCenter" jingle and a greeting from Tolliver.
"Hello, I'm Anthony Tolliver ... Welcome to The Decision Part Deux, which is French for two," he says.
The reporter, who is never shown in the video, asks: "So, Mr. Tolliver, when did you make your decision?"
Tolliver: "I think I made my decision this morning when I was using the bathroom. ... It just came to me."
Reporter: "Are you going to let us know your decision?"Tolliver: "I think I'll write it down for you."
That's when Tolliver holds up the 8 1/2- by 11-inch sheet of paper with "Minnesota Timberwolves" written on it.
Tolliver ends the video with a closing remark: "Thank you to all my fans who have been following me, following my decision. ... It's been a great run. Hopefully, this is just the beginning. God bless you."
Wolves president of basketball operations David Kahn was unavailable to comment on Tolliver, who played last season with Golden State and Portland, but a Wolves representative said the club has reached an agreement with the three-year veteran. Tolliver is expected to sign a two-year deal worth $4.8 million, a significant boost from his $427,316 salary last season with Golden State.Tolliver averaged 11.7 points and 7.0 rebounds in 46 games with Golden State and scored a career-high 34 points April 7 against the Wolves in a 116-107 victory at Target Center. In eight games in April, Tolliver averaged 15.5 points and 8.9 rebounds.
