NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 3 - A man was arrested in Nairobi on Monday night after he allegedly murdered his wife for denying him his conjugal rights, police said. The man told police that he was incensed after his wife of more than ten years refused to honour his demands.
“He was arrested immediately after the incident, and he was very categorical on interrogation. He said he killed his wife after she denied him his conjugal rights,” Nairobi Provincial Police chief Anthony Kibuchi said.
“He said he grabbed her throat and strangled her. We have spoken to him and he sounds remorseful,” Mr Kibuchi added.
The incident occurred at an estate in Riruta in the outskirts of Nairobi. Mr Kibuchi said the man was being held at the Riruta police station.
He did not provide further details of the incident or identities of the man and the deceased woman.
Mr Kibuchi told Capital News that the suspect would be arraigned in court once the investigation is completed.
“He will definitely face murder charges once our detectives are through with the investigation,” he added.
Another police officer told Capital News that neighbours were attracted by screams of the woman but could not help because the couple’s door was closed.
