Zac Efron made U.S. TV audiences squirm on Thursday night - by happily munching on a platter of scorpions, crickets and superworms.
The 17 Again star was being interviewed on late night programme Lopez Tonight when he admitted he had a reputation for eating exotic foods his friends won't touch - including delicacies like live larvae.
He explained, "It's not that I search for weird things to eat, I'm not that guy. But if there is something strange and everybody's afraid to eat it, I'm usually the guy that'll go for it. I'm not afraid to try new things."
And comedian George Lopez publicly challenged the star to prove he has a stomach of steel - by surprising him with plates of scorpion toast, Taiwanese crickets and a superworm cocktail.
But Efron swallowed his slimy snacks like a champ. Taking a bite of a toasted scorpion, he said: "This is not a big deal. In fact, I'm just gonna pop this guy right off."
