Bill Cosby died again on Twitter today topped only by Lindsey Lohan

Bill Cosby died again on Twitter today.  "Bill Cosby died" was the top Trending Topic worldwide today on Twitter.  The news of his untimely and untrue demise had dropped to second in the United States as of this writing, surpassed only by Lindsey Lohan as a Trending Topic.   Lindsey Lohan was released from jail to go to rehab, and that made a big splash on Twitter, also.  Facebook also had many status updates appearing about Bill Cosby, and some were very touching!
The Twitter rumor mill

The instantaneous nature of Twitter allows rumors like this to spread like a wildfire. The result is somewhat of an event, even after the rumor has been refuted.  This rumor was refuted by Bill Cosby (@billcosby) himself on Twitter, or "rebuttled, he called it.  He made the following Tweet on Twitter today at shortly before 4:00 pm Eastern time.
"Again, I am rebuttaling rumors about my demise.  But, I am confirming I have an app.  http://bit.ly/BillCosbyApp .  :)"

Emotional toil

The 73 year old actor also tweeted a message around 6:00 pm Eastern time to whoever had started this rumor.
"Emotional friends have called about this misinformation. To the people behind the foolishness, I’m not sure you see how upsetting this is."

Bill Cosby will go on Larry King tonight to prove he is still alive.  He tweeted it himself only moments ago. 
"Watch me on Larry King LIVE tonight with @KingsThings at 9:30!"

Bill's demise missed Bristol

While it is difficult to judge the origin of Tweets on Twitter, there did not seem to be much local activity on Facebook about the rumor in the Bristol area today.  There were postings that appeared in a search, but the impact was nothing like what occurred on Twitter today.
According to Indy Posting.com, the same rumor circulated in February of this year.
